PSR SeriesBT46-NC

PSR Atlas® Bipod

The PSR is the Atlas bipod that won the USSOCOM Precision Sniper Rifle contract. Where the V8 started the story, the PSR is where it went under hard-use military validation. It is estimated 40 percent stronger than the V8 series, adds non-rotating legs with a pivot-limiting boss for more consistent cant movement, and uses a larger 0.5-inch position button for better control in gloves. It is the number-one selling Atlas bipod in the catalog, and it shows in the field use record. Two height options and multiple mount types let you configure it exactly for your rifle and discipline.

Knowledge Is Power

Frequently Asked Questions

Still weighing whether the PSR Atlas Bipod is right for your rifle? These quick answers tackle what we get asked most: buying unassembled for custom coating, how the options compare, and which option to choose.

Should I choose Standard or Tall height?

Standard (BT46) covers most prone, bench, and positional shooting at 5.0-9.6 inch elevation. Choose Tall (BT47) if your shooting position requires more ground clearance, you shoot from elevated surfaces, or you are hunting from a vehicle or blind. The tall footprint is also wider (10.0-14.5 in) for additional lateral stability.

ADM Lever or No Clamp -- which is better for me?

The ADM-170-S Lever (LW17) is the most popular choice because it mounts and removes from Picatinny in seconds without tools. Choose No Clamp if you run ARCA, M-LOK, already own an Atlas clamp, or want to select your own mounting interface. Both are equally capable once mounted.

What is the difference between PSR and V8?

The PSR is estimated 40 percent stronger than the V8, adds non-rotating legs with a pivot-limiting boss, and uses a larger 0.5-inch position button. It won the USSOCOM PSR contract. The V8 is lighter, less expensive, and adequate for most civilian shooting applications. If you shoot in harsh conditions or compete at a high level, the PSR is the better platform.

Is FDE available in all configurations?

FDE is currently available in No Clamp configuration only, in both Standard (BT46-NC-FDE, $389.95) and Tall (BT47-NC-FDE, $409.95) heights.

What does blemished mean?

Blemished units are factory seconds with cosmetic finish imperfections only. No structural or functional difference from new. Full no-fine-print lifetime warranty applies. Stock is limited.

What does unassembled mean?

Unassembled kits are for Cerakote or custom finishing before assembly. Available for standard LW17 and NC models. If you are not applying a custom finish, order the factory-assembled version.

Is the PSR bipod made in the USA?

Yes. Designed, machined, and assembled in the USA by B&T Industries. CAGE code 3L7F2. NSN-listed for military procurement.

How do I verify I have an authentic PSR?

Buy from accu-shot.com or an authorized dealer. Authentic units have consistent Mil-Spec Type III hardcoat finish and B&T Industries markings. Counterfeits are sold online -- confirm your source before purchasing.

Which Atlas bipod do I need for my rifle?

Start with two decisions: the series, then the mounting method. For the series, decide whether you want pan and cant or cant only. The V8, PSR, and 5-H pan and cant; the CAL and Super CAL are cant-only, which keeps the bore perpendicular to the legs for added rigidity at long range. The V8 is the original all-around bipod, the PSR is the hard-use SOCOM-contract version, the 5-H is the heavy large-caliber series, the CAL is the competition cant-only series, and the Super CAL is the oversized cant-only series for ELR and big bores. Once you have the series, choose the mounting method below. Our Atlas Bipod Comparison Chart lists every model and spec side by side.

What is the difference between the mounting options -- Two-Screw Clamp, No Clamp (NC), and Quick-Detach Lever (LW17)?

The bipod is the same in every case; only the clamp that joins it to your rail changes. Two-Screw Clamp: Picatinny rails only, bolted on with a flathead. It is slower to install or remove, so it suits a bipod dedicated to one rifle, and it saves weight, bulk, apex height, and cost. No Clamp (NC): ships without a clamp and with a bare 17S mounting pattern (two holes 1.100" apart, 10-32 threads). You supply any 17S-size mount -- a Picatinny lever, an ARCA-Swiss clamp, or our BT19 AI Spigot or BT70 M-LOK adapter -- so it is best if you run ARCA or already own a 17S clamp. Quick-Detach Lever (LW17): includes a lever clamp (the ADM-170-S on the V8, PSR, CAL, and Super CAL; the larger ADM-5-H on the 5-H) that hand-tightens on and off any Picatinny rail without tools and adjusts to in- and out-of-spec rails -- best if you move one bipod between rifles. If none of these fit your rifle directly, you may need a rail or adapter; see our Atlas Bipod Rail Comparison Chart.

Is there an Atlas bipod that attaches directly to a sling stud?

Not directly, but our BT81 Lil' Brandi sling-stud-to-Picatinny adapter mounts to a traditional stock without disassembly, drilling, or damage, giving you a Picatinny rail for any clamp-style Atlas. If your stock has two sling studs, we recommend our BT15 or BT17 Picatinny rail instead. For a single-stud synthetic or wood stock, a gunsmith can drill a second hole to install a rail. We strongly recommend a competent gunsmith for any firearm modification.

What do I need to mount an Atlas bipod?

The most common path is a Picatinny rail on your rifle, which then accepts any Two-Screw or LW17 lever Atlas. We offer Picatinny rails for general-purpose, Anschutz, Freeland, free-float tube, M-LOK, and other applications -- see the Atlas Bipod Rail Comparison Chart. The second path is a No Clamp (NC) Atlas, which takes any 17S-size mount you supply, or mounts directly to our BT19 AI Spigot or BT70 M-LOK adapter. We strongly recommend a competent gunsmith for any firearm modification.

My tension knob is too tight. How do I loosen it?

A stiff tension knob is common from the factory. Install the bipod on an unloaded rifle, turn it upside down or rest it on the buttstock with the muzzle up, deploy the legs to the 90-degree position, and with a hand on each leg work the pan side to side. It should loosen with use. If it is still too stiff afterward, contact us.
